Cracking the Cover
Good morning, guys! I am sitting outside, drinking coffee, eating cereal, and trying to be as tumblr as possible. Maybe it was the caffeine that hit my bones or the fact that trying something new sounded like a great idea, but I am just hitting the "news" at a running sprint. (possible over exaggeration alert)
- Starting a blog
- Starting a "Morning Pages" journal
- Using 6 spoonfuls of coffee creamer instead of my usual 5
It is always an exciting thing to start something new. A lot of times it can even be a little nerve-racking. . . Goodness, the act of starting something that you have never tried before brings all sorts of feelings. Did you catch that key word in there? Starting? Yes, starting is one of main reasons why we get feelings of nerves, excitement, and even uneasiness.
Have you ever opened up a new book and heard the popping and cracking of its spine? Did you notice how awkward that very first page was? It seems to want to stay close the cover. It takes some hard-core creasing to get it to lay the same way as the other pages.
The way the first page fits into a book is similar to how we feel when starting something new. We become exposed to a new environment, a new position, and we are encouraged to become comfortable with it. It may be a little difficult to "crack our cover," but once we get past that first page, that first day, the first workout, the moment of acceptance, it begins to become more natural and routine.
Whether you are starting a new job, a new workout plan, a renewed relationship with God, or maybe you are actually starting a book or journal. The most important thing is just starting. That's what begins to make a difference.
love, em raine
